Satellite Train is an Australian project that has Michael Paynter, from Icehouse, as a mentor and brings musicians from all over the world on its staff. They are John (Watto) Watson (James Reyne), John McCall (ex-The Black Sorrows), Shane O’Mara and Randy Jacobs (ex-Paul Kelly), Jamie Muhoberac (John Mayer) and a duo from Melbourne, the hometown of band, Susan Turner and Pasquale Monea.
They have been promoting their new album “The Melbourne Sessions”, and “Wings”, the track of the occasion, opens the album. And what an opening, as it is a powerful, impactful song that is perfect as the band’s calling card. It has everything an opening song should have.
With a well-established guitar and piano at the beginning, the vocal lines enter without much ceremony, showing an impressive range that captivates the listener from the beginning. With an intense melody, the composition also has a dense feel, revealing a band with a lot of desire.
If we were to fit “Wings” into something, hard rock/AOR would be ideal, but the song also takes on pop contours, which makes the sound more accessible. In short, nothing fairer and better than that, proving that if the single is something splendid, imagine the entire album, which is also available!
