Leah, a gentle soul with a beautiful voice

A musical artist with whom we had the pleasure of collaborating briefly was singer Leah La Belle. Our collaboration involved a flight to Seattle where we worked in a cozy studio. Having the opportunity to work with her, as well as meeting her mother, was a wonderful experience.

Leah’s singing voice was uniquely expressive and soulful. As an artist, Leah collaborated with Pharrell Williams and Jermaine Dupri. The Soul Train Centric Award was presented to LaBelle at the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards.

Our brief time working with Leah influenced some of the music that we wrote afterward, in which we attempted to incorporate some of the soulfulness we heard in Leah’s performance and singing style.

It was tragic to learn that Leah passed away in 2018. Leah was an influential member of the community and is dearly missed.

Even though she does not appear in any of the forthcoming material, Leah is considered a member of the team.
