Chris Chaney

Chris Chaney is an American musician who is best known as the bassist for alternative rock band Jane’s Addiction. He has also played with a wide variety of other artists, including Alanis Morissette, Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, Camp Freddy, and Ozzy Osbourne. He is currently playing bass for Miley Cyrus.

Chaney was born in Los Angeles, California and began playing bass guitar at the age of 12, and quickly became proficient at the instrument. He attended the University of Southern California, where he studied music.

After graduating from USC, Chaney began playing in a variety of bands in the Los Angeles area. In 1997, he was asked to join Alanis Morissette’s touring band. He played with Morissette for six years, and contributed to her albums Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie and Under Rug Swept.

In 2002, Chaney was asked to join Jane’s Addiction. He replaced Eric Avery, who had left the band in 1991. Chaney has been a member of Jane’s Addiction ever since, and has contributed to their albums Strays, The Great Escape Artist, and Ritual de lo Habitual.

In addition to his work with Jane’s Addiction, Chaney has also played with a variety of other artists, including Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, Camp Freddy, and Ozzy Osbourne. He is a highly respected bassist, and is known for his versatility and his ability to play a wide range of musical styles.
